Goal:

Open up the kitchen and living area by removing walls and creating a space for an island. Redo all finishes on main floor and basement.

Major Obstacle:

Both walls were load bearing. We hired Inland NW Engineering to specify beams and details. The large (east to west) beam was 5-1/8x16x22’. This beam cantilevered 6’6” to carry two other beams load.

Old to New

The original design was a traditional 1970’s split level with little natural light and warm tones. Mint Interiors designed a warm modern design with just the right balance.

Above and Beyond

We worked with Faber for the cabinets, white oak island, shelving, and butcher block tops. We took a less expensive butcher block and custom finished it to resemble the specified dark walnut.
